Some inspiration...

...I found a picture in a furniture magazine a few months back and decided I wanted to paint from it. So paint from it I did.

First I went out to Hobby Lobby and purchased the biggest canvas I've ever painted on! I love working big :-) Along with that I bought a new brush that was on sale as well as some liquin medium that helped to thin out my oils and allows the brush to glide more easily across the canvas.

The final product is attached! We're now trying to find the perfect spot for it in our bedroom. It's a bit large so that may prove harder than I had anticipated. oops!

I have a lot more painting ideas floating around in the cranium....now I just have to pick and choose.

doesn't it feel good when you find an inspiration and just go for it...and then finish the piece. This looks lovely - wish I could see it in real life

it does feel good :-) probably why i get so antsy when i haven't created something in awhile. i get in this weird funk and the only thing that alleviates is making art.

i'm an art dork.....i know :-)

first of all, I LOVE the new blog name and layout! secondly what a gorgeous piece. I'll bet it was a lot of fun to create!! I wish I could have it...I LOVE green (and writing 'love' in all caps apparently).

You have a big day coming up! Sorry I have been MIA. Our connection really stinks at our new place, BUT it's one block from Repubblica, so beat that! I hope we get to meet up when you're here!

em: thanks for all the well wishes! much appreciated. I LOVE writing "love" in all caps as well :-)

it think it would be awesome if we could meet up while we're there. i already mentioned the idea to erin from olive notes.......maybe we could coordinate a joint meeting for lunch or coffee or something.

as they day gets closer when we're about to leave i'll suggest a day and we'll go from there!

p.s. erin if you read this.....i hope this is all ok with you too :-)

Very nice, PL! The use of color reminds me of a bit early-mid 20th C. Mexican art - à la Frida Kahlo. I like it - very cool.
